*Note: For the four Sundays after Jesus’ Baptism, we invite the children to help “build” a particular story from Scripture. These stories help reveal who Jesus is, and we call them “Epiphanies.”

-
Go around the circle and share your name and a “fish motion” (a fish-face, swimming like a fish or pretending you are trying to catch a fish). (Everyone responds “Good Morning, ______!”)

Written on a poster board so the kids can read (or sing) along.
I want to walk as a child of the light. I want to follow Jesus.
God set the stars to give light to the world. The star of my life is Jesus.
In him there is no darkness at all. The night and the day are both alike. The Lamb is the light of the city of God.
Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.(Hymnal 1982 pg. 490)
(Ask for individual prayers of concern or thanksgiving/celebration)
We offer these prayers through Jesus, the light of the world. Amen

Today we are going to work together to build something— a story about Jesus! We will each work on a different part or element of the story. At the end of our time, we will gather to read the story and reflect on what it reveals to us about Jesus. Have children help decide which part of the story they will build.

Have each child choose one activity.
1. Build Boats and Water. Below are a couple of photos from Pinterest. You can use laundry baskets or boxes for boats; noodles for paddles and blue plastic table clothes or tarps for water.

2. Make many Fish and decorate them. https://onelittleproject.com/fis? This job can be involve lots of people.
3. Make a paper fishnet (or use a real one) If you need another activity these seems fun for an older child, though the nets may be fragile.

Story:“The Disciples” pg. 258 Spark Storybook Bible.. As you read the story, have children act out the roles of Jesus, the crowd, Simon, Andrew, James and John, Matthew. They can use the props they created.
If time permits, here are some wondering questions:
• I wonder how it felt to have Jesus hop onto your boat?
• I wonder why the crowd was following Jesus?
• I wonder how the nets looked, full of fish?
• I wonder what was your favorite part of the story?
