The Rev. Helen Slingluff White
I offer this evolving website to support and share ideas with others who have a passion for ministry with children. Here you will find two types of resources: those I have personally created and those I have curated from the hard work of others. I have tried to give appropriate credit to outside sources and only link to non-copyrighted materials. The photography credit goes to Mills Fleming.
Growing up in today’s world is spiritually challenging. Anxiety, depression, and loneliness are rampant among youth and children, not to mention the adults. The gift of a truly intergenerational community is something the Church uniquely offers. I know from over 20 years of experience that ministry with children blesses us all, no matter the size of the congregation or the number of kids. Let’s get creative and faithfully welcome children, every Sunday! (Remember, “children” are many ages. Adult formation offerings are included.)
The Rev. Helen White served at Christ Church, Savannah, GA from 2014-2024. During that time, she created and coordinated many formation programs involving children, families and adults, contributing to a dynamic and growing church community. Prior to serving at Christ Church, Helen served as the Vicar at All Saint's on Tybee Island and the Assistant at St. George's in Savannah. She also served as a chaplain to Armstrong State University. She is a graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary (MDiv), Georgia Southern University (MEd) and Furman University (BA in Religion).
Helen is currently serving as a ministry consultant to several congregations in the Dioceses of Georgia and Atlanta. She is married to the Rev. Michael White and the mother of two sons, Ethan and Jay. She enjoys playing tennis, watching all the new TV shows, and walking with friends. Hank, the Cavapoo, is her most steadfast colleague.
